Sketch Text:
I found my old baseball glove while unpacking an old box after my move at the beginning of last month. I oiled it up for about an hour to get it working again. Then I struck a pose in front of the full length mirror, stretched out in full stride as I hauled in the only spectacular, centerfield, over-the-shoulder catch I ever made.
I still remember saying “I’ll be damn” as I came to a stop, turned, and fired the ball to the shortstop.
The shortstop, Dino, later told me it was “poetry in motion”.
I’m not much of a poet anymore.

Welcome back! Nice glove . . . . though it doesn’t look very warm…. I’ll probably never understand US culture . . . .
Thanks Rowland! Baseball glove…Baseball.
I like your drawings very much. This one reminded me of the one we have in our attic thats a close 2nd. It was use by our son in the 1960s. I should get it down and oil it up and down. (-;
Hi Kathleen and thanks so much for the comment
It would be great if you could get it back into shape just as a keepsake. You really have to hand work them though with a good glove oil or leather treatment. Parts will fall off and flake off but eventually it’ll be it pretty good shape again
Thanks for reading the blog!
