Hello Dear Readers!
As many of you know, life has been a whirlwind for me the last year. I’m back now.
Unfortunately, about a month ago, someone hacked Idle Minutes and in the process I’ve managed to lose all the images to my previous posts. There were two-hundred plus posts since 2006 and they didn’t make a lot of sense without the images. In thinking about all that stuff, I decided that since my life had changed so radically in the last fourteen months, perhaps I just needed to start over with Idle Minutes as well.
And so I have.
So for the next couple of weeks you’ll see some tweaking on the appearance of the blog, as well as posts of course. I’m not really changing my focus for Idle Minutes. It’s still a sketch blog. The about page explains its purpose. As has always been the case with me…I take twists and turns. So you’ll never know what’s to come here.
Many of you have subscribed to Idle Minutes so you receive it in your email each time there is a new post. No worries…you’re still subscribed. One-hundred plus at last count. And I greatly appreciate each and every one of you
Thank you so much for your patience and kind emails while I’ve been away.
As priority number one, I’ll have the subscribe/unsubscribe link active so you can unsubscribe if you like. Though I hope you’ll choose to stay aboard.
So off we go…hopefully never to be bothered again by hackers. As always, please leave your comments when the mood strikes. I truly enjoy conversing with the readers and making new online acquaintances through Idle Minutes.

Thanks for sending me your new blog site. I am so sorry about your old site getting destroyed. Really awful:(:( I hope all goes well now:):) I used to sketch paint all the time, then had some health problems and somehow, the desire left me to write/do art. But I think I’m getting it back, and want to do sketch journals, mainly transfer them to .pdf files, and make them for my kids. I’m getting up (way up) in years now, but that’s something I can do, and my kids have asked me to… Wish me luck, as I do you too:):):) We just can’t give up… I hope you had your pix backed up on your hard drive, or wherever. I have many art attempts and photos, but what a job to sort them all!!! Many many years worth, but I’m not complaining of THAT.
Looking forward to your new blog:):):)
Ellie
I’m so glad you’re back! I’ve often looked at the postcard painting you sent to me and wondered where you went. I hope your life is settling down to something very comfortable for you now. I have found (from experience!) that when things seems out of control in one’s life, ‘comfortable’ is a beautiful place to be so I wish that for you. Can’t wait to see more paintings from you. A fresh start for your blog will kind of represent your fresh start. Glad you’re back,
Deb
Hi Don!
So good to hear from you! So sorry to hear about losing all your paintings and thoughts on your blog though. I would be happy to scan and email you the wonderful painting you did for me of the Continental Divide at Independent Pass, above Aspen, Colorado if you tell me where to send it. Maybe others would be willing to do the same? (You could open a new email account just to receive those.) A new beginning for you in so many ways…oh, the wonderful experiences that await you! I will look forward to seeing and hearing all about them! All the best, Sheri
Ellie, Deb, and Sheri…Thank You!
I so appreciate the kind words and thoughts.
Ellie…Start anew with me! You have my full support and encouragement
Deb…you’re so right…comfortable is a beautiful place to be and I’m getting there by and by
Sheri…You’re sweet to offer scanning. I think for now though I will simply begin anew. Sometimes things are meant to be I suppose
I’ll be doing some special things like postcards and such in the future though…
Great to get your sketch page in my email today. It inspired me to go dig out a sketchbook that has been languishing since summer. Glad you are back!
Sarah
Hi Sarah!
I’m glad I inspired you and thank you for the kind words
I’ve gotta get my blogroll in order in the next day or so and I’ll be sure to place you on it.
Sketch your inspirations and post ‘em in the mean time eh?
Don, I’m a first time reader, I just followed a link here from Russ Stutler’s site. I’m so sorry to hear that some mindless vermin destroyed your work. I hope you will keep offline copies of everything for this new version.
I look forward to reading your blog and looking at your pics. I’ve just started sketching again as a way to retrain my eye for photography, I find myself looking but not seeing a bit too often these days.
Thanks for the comment Nick and for stopping by for a visit
Sketching will certainly get your “seeing” jumpstarted after you get in the groove of making it a habit. Plus it’s simply fun, and much like meditating. I will be keeping my images in a safe place electronically from here on out so I’m not affected so drastically by adverse events.
Have fun sketching…start a blog and share your work
So sorry to hear. It’s been a while since I’ve stopped by. If I remember right, you also live in Georgia. (I’m in Marietta.) I do love the new format. It’s so clean and fresh. Perhaps one of these days we can have coffee and share our sketchbooks.
…dave
Thanks for the comment Dave
I’m in Colorado now so I don’t reckon we’ll be able to meet for coffee
